Low-Noise Product Design

Noise Emission

is designed in (or out) much earlier than you think...

Integrated Acoustic/Thermal Design - leading the industry with methods for

predicting noise, flow, power, etc.

Noise is pollution...

...and it’s an unwanted byproduct of almost any mechanical activity.  A tiny fraction of the input power is converted to acoustic energy and, even in remarkably small quantities (<1µW), can become a problem for users or bystanders.

The first order of business in noise control is to reduce that fraction through intrinsically low-noise design.  If the resulting reduction in “sound quantity” is not sufficient, acoustical materials or treatments may be employed.

In many applications, “Sound Quality” is more important than “sound quantity”.  The favorable and unfavorable characteristics of product sound are identified and the product design is modified to create sound that better suits the expectations of users.
